陶芸家。優美なフォルムの素地に、染付とイッチン技法によって繊細な細い糸の表現を文様として加飾していく、女性らしい細やかな感性の作品が特徴。一本一本、糸をあざなうように思いを込めた独特の彩描世界。
イッチン技法（筒描き）とは、「泥漿」（でいしょう）と呼ばれる粘度の高い液状の素材や釉薬を絞り、筒の器を用いて描く陶芸の技法。絵具を混ぜて作った何段階もの色調の泥漿を使って描かれる滑らかなグラデーションの柄は澤谷作品の真骨頂。器のなかに青色の泥と線がさまよう文様――立体的なイッチンと染付による彩描が織りなす深遠なる世界。
Ceramic artist. Decorating delicate forms with very fine threadlike patterns by using blue glaze and the itchin technique, Sawaya is known for her works with feminine sensibilities.
The itchin technique involves squeezing out “deisho” (clay mixed with water) or glaze from a tube onto the surface of the porcelain to form embossed patterns. Sawaya’s works involve
repeating this process with different color tones to create a pattern in gradation. Patterns of blue glaze and fine lines made possible by three dimensional itchin create a profound world.
